Congratulations to Coach Bob Leetch, who was selected Southern Section Spring
Coach of the Year by the CCA (California Coaches Association) Southern Section selection committee. He is in the running for the state coach of the year announced in June 2014.
Girls’ Track and Field: Bob Leetch-Redondo Union High SchoolRedondo Union has risen to the elite of girls’ track and field in recent years. Bob Leetch, has been the head coach of both the boys’ and girls’ teams for the last eight years. The girls have won the last four Bay League Championships in track and field. In addition, the girls’ distance runners have been among the best in the nation. This past season, the Redondo Union girls ran the second fastest time in the nation in the sprint medley. In addition, they were ranked #1 in the United States in both the 4 x 800 meter relay and the distance medley relay. This past season, the girls also finished up as runner ups in D2 CIF Southern Section. For his team’s recent success, Bob has received many honors. He has been the Daily Breeze Coach of the Year in girls’ track and field for 2010, 2011 and 2012. Last year, at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, Bob was honored as the USATF National Girls’ Track and Field Coach of the Year.
