Summer Information For Cross Country

Dear Parents and Athletes,
Below is important information concerning cross country for the summer months.

  • June 14 begins our mandatory three week CIF break where coaches are not allowed to train with students outside the school day.  Our captains; Isabel Ramirez, Peyton Heiden, Ben Tait and Brian Adler will be running captains practices. These practices will be held at the track through June 22 each day afterschool. Beginning on June 23 the practices will move to Veteran’s Park. The captains will let the athletes know the time they will be meeting. These practices will continue through July 4th.
  • Our summer cross country camp begins on July 5 and continues until school begins. All athletes who want to be on the cross country team need to sign up for the summer camp. Emails have been sent out to those athletes who still need to sign up. The date for completing the summer camp registration is by June 22. We will be training the entire summer so that our athletes continue to improve, prevent injuries and to prepare for our exciting upcoming season. We are looking for those returning athletes to show a commitment to our team and program. Please email Coach Ferron about any conflicts you may have so that the coaches are aware and can work on a training plan. Please plan long vacation time in June and early July. Missing long periods at the end of July and the month of August makes it difficult for an athlete to keep up with the training progression that the team goes through during the summer months.
  • On August 19, there will be the Inter-squad Race/Cross Country Tryout. This will begin and end on the track and will involve a three mile cross country race. Report time is 7:00 AM and the race will take place promptly at 8:00 AM.
  • Big Bear Camp will take place August 14-18. More information and registration for this camp will be given out at practice and sent out in a later email.
  • Keep checking for future emails that will include more upcoming events. We are planning a Welcome Back BBQ in July at Seaside Lagoon and a Wilderness Park event at the end of July.
  • Last but not least. All athletes are required to complete their athletic clearance packet by August 11. This includes the required paperwork, the completed physical form and the transportation fee. This is located on the Redondo Union website under Athletics.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
