Redondo Union High School Cross Country, Track & Field Booster Club is conducting a recycling fundraiser. There’s nothing to buy. We are simply asking you to protect the environment by donating your used consumer electronics and unwanted, broken or mismatched jewelry. Your used item(s) may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations. 100% of the proceeds will help fund the RUHS Cross Country, Track & Field Program.

We are currently collecting the following items:

Cell Phones * iPods & MP3 Players * Digital Cameras * E- Book Readers * Inkjet Cartridges * Video Games

Digital SLR Cameras * Portable GPS Devices * Laptop Computers iPads & Tablets * Handheld Game Sys.* Game Consol

SLR Lenses * Digital Video Cameras * TI Graphing Calc * Gold, Silver & Platinum Jewelry

Drop off any items you would like to recycle any day between 8:00am – 8:00pm

So far we have collected 2 lap tops, over 75 ink cartridges, 15 cell phones and a few cameras. These are from just 4 families, which makes be believe there are a lot more items we can collect. Thank you to those who have donated so far!

The question is what will they do with their old electronics?

Now is the perfect time to kick off our fundraising efforts by letting everyone know about their recycling options. It is estimated that less than 10% of all electronics are recycled in the United States. The fact is, most people simply do not know how to properly recycle their used, broken or old electronics and turn to storing them or (even worse) throwing them away instead.
The RUHS CCT Booster Club will be taking the opportunity to do the right thing for the environment while raising much needed funds for RUHS cross country, track and field program in the upcoming year.

It was one exciting day Saturday for our XC Girls and coaches at the State Championships held in Fresno. The Girls finished 3rd in D2, they had the 3rd best team time of the entire California State Meet, and received an invitation which they accepted to attend Nike Cross Nationals in Portland Oregon next Saturday!

We are very proud of our cross country girls and coaches what an awesome job representing Redondo!

GO SEA HAWKS!

Saugus wins, again, with 67 points, San Diego’s La Costa Canyon finished 2nd with 88, RUHS  was 3rd with 101, favored Simi Valley finished 4th with 113, and Woodbridge rounded out the top 5 with 114 points.

Lyndsey Mull was our 1st finisher in 7th (5th for scoring) at 17:53.9, Rachel Bush was 13th (9th for scoring) in 18:05.9, Cara Ulizio was 14th (10th for scoring) in 18:12.4, Kayla Ferron was 16th (12th for scoring) in 18:14.1, and Alexis Thibodeau was 85th (65th for scoring) in 19:50.2 to round out the scoring finishers. Anique Villegas was 127th (101st for scoring) in 20:22.4 just a hair ahead of Nicole Pederson in 128th (102nd for scoring) in the time of 20:22.9.

Special note: Cara Ulizio was the top “3rd runner” and Kayla Ferron was the top “4th runner” on any team to finish, demonstrating the depth of quality talent on this year’s team.

The incredible grouping of our first 4 runners, 7th to 16th place was classic Redondo running, and a key factor in their enviable 3rd place finish.

Great job girls, and thank you for making all of Redondo Beach proud to be your fans!
