It’s back! The RUHS XC/Track Booster Club in conjunction with NIKE is hosting the second annual Redondo NIKE Track and Field Invitational on March 16-17 and we need your help. The meet will begin on Friday night from 6pm to 9pm with a Distance Carnival. On Saturday the events will begin with the throws at 9am and the full schedule of track and field events continuing from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
NIKE has graciously agreed to sponsor our event by underwriting some expenses and donating equipment. This helps create a high caliber meet with invitations going to SoCal schools with top track and field programs. We expect strong competition across all events with opportunities for record times to be established for the 2012 season. A full slate of events is scheduled including distance/sprint, hurdles, all jumping events, throws and pole vault.
In addition, there will be a festival area where NIKE and Roadrunner will have display booths. An area radio station and other vendors are being finalized. Local press will be in attendance, and plans are in the works to broadcast some events online.
We need volunteers to help us across all venues, especially on Saturday. They include admissions, athlete check-in, track and field events, start and finish line support, concessions, medical support, and vendor exhibit area.
Volunteers will work specific venues for a select period of time, approximately 3 to 4 hour shifts. Volunteers are encouraged to attend a 45-minute meeting on Thursday night (March 15) at the RUHS Field house. You will get an overview of the event and have the opportunity to ask questions about your volunteer station.
The Booster club is reaching out to student and community groups but we want our parent boosters to lead the way. If you can volunteer at this meet, please send a message along with your name and phone number to Susan Ryan email email@example.com
Stay tuned, as we’ll be sending out more information in the coming weeks.
Thanks everyone, we did a great job last year and I know you can make this meet the top event of the 2012 track season.
Let’s go Redondo Track and Field Booster Club!
