Redondo athletes will be assigned a separate field to stretch, warm-up, and prepare to race. Redondo athletes will treat their teams heat as their cohort. An example would be Redondo JV Girls will be a separate cohort group.  All athletes will warm-up, race, and warm down with their cohort group.

All athletes will arrive wearing masks.  They will wear a disposable mask to the starting line before their race. If they do not have one a mask will be provided.  Once the race begins the athlete may toss the mask to the side or adjust the mask below the chin.  And adjust it accordingly during the race.  A volunteer will collect the discarded masks and dispose of them.  After the finish, a volunteer will distribute new masks to the runners to be worn once they leave the finish area.

Family members are allowed to spectate.  We ask that family members maintain proper distancing of 6 feet.  And all spectators must wear masks.

*Once the race is completed please make any visit with the kids brief.  They will change back into their training flats and do their team warm down together. This is important both physically and emotionally.   Please allow this to occur.  I am not very mobile yet. With the races stacked on top of each other, I will be primarily on the course. I do not want to spend my time shoeing parents out of the warm-up area. Help me out on this.

It is advised to have a light meal a few hours before the race.  Something like oatmeal with fruit and toast.  If they prefer to eat a more typical meal build in a little more time before the race, 3-4 hours. There will be no concessions available.  Bring your own healthy snacks.  There is a small market a few blocks away. Eat a typical healthy meal the night before.  No need to carbo-load.  And start hydrating the day before along with the morning of the race.  Carlos will provide Gatorade to our athletes. He will be set up next to our warm-up field.

There is one restroom at the field.  The porta potties have been removed. Athletes need to budget their time before races accordingly.  Even in a small meet like this, there will be a line.  Make sure you plan for extra time in line.  We will have extra toilet paper.  Parents, try to use the restroom before leaving home.  If possible, try to avoid the park facility if the line is long.  It will shorten after the start of each race.  There also are restrooms at the market and the gas station down the street.

This will be the first athletic contest allowed in LA County in a year.  It is a privilege to compete for our proud high school.  We have amazing kids who will perform well and represent the school with pride.  If you happen to be near a Palos Verdes coach or volunteer make sure to thank them for hosting this first event.  They are very nice people that are putting in their time and effort to host a great meet for our kids.
